Merchants and Planters Bank was formed on July 18th, 1905 and has survived and prospered through many economic events, including the Great Depression.  In Febuary of 2008, a change of ownership took place with Chuck Newell being named as President and CEO.  With 6 banking branches serving numerous counties in Tennessee, M&P Bank looked to enter the Memphis market by adding a mortgage division.  Their main focus would be exclusively on one product, and possbily the most important for it's customers- Home Mortgages. 

In October of 2009, Merchants and Planters Bank acquired Mortgage Lending Consultants, Inc. based out of Memphis, TN.  Their mission was to provide clients around the Mid-South area with unparralled mortgage services.  With the ability to approve loans directly onsite, M&P Bank immediately added an experienced underwriting/loan approval team.  Local underwriting is a key business philosophy for the Bank because it provides our customers with fast approval times and quick answers to any questions about a particular loan or scenario.

M&P Bank Home Loans has been steadily adding experienced loan officers and operations personnel to serve it's customer base.  It is imperative that only the most qualified Loan Officer handles the mortgage transaction.  The "mortgage maze" can sometimes be a difficult process and it is vitale that the loan originator is able to guide each customer through the process with ease, clarity and top-notch service.
